File:Sai SWLEG31.jpg

In lightsaber combat, sai was a jump used by Jedi and other Force-users to evade an attack directed at the legs. The Force was the main backbone of the strength, height, and speed at which the jump was executed. The combatant could then strike downwards, using the fall as a fulcrum for more power, as demonstrated by Darth Vader during his duel with Roan Shryne.

Notable usesEdit

Darth Maul utilized the sai several times during his duel against Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi on Naboo.

Another of Dooku's utilizations of the sai was during a sparring match with General Grievous, where he leapt high and flipped in mid-air to avoid a particularly brutal strike unleashed by the cyborg.

Jedi Grand Master Yoda utilized the sai maneuver several times during his duel with Darth Sidious on Coruscant.

The Sith Lord Darth Vader utilized the sai during his duel with Roan Shryne on Kashyyyk, pivoting in midair and coming down behind Shryne, using his fall to add power to his downward attack.

Luke Skywalker used sai against Darth Vader during the final duel, leaping into one of the control pods in the Emperor's throne room.

Cade Skywalker utilized sai to evade a leg-sweeping strike from Darth Stryfe while using Dun Möch against the Sith Lord.
